Supernatural - Season 4

Hopefully by now you've had a chance to see Season 3, because a massive big spoiler is coming up!

At the end of Season 3, Dean & Sam try to hunt down Lilith in order to clear Dean's crossroads demon deal.  Reminder: Dean made the deal at the end of Season 2 to bring Sam back to life...

Unfortunately, Lilith tricks them and takes over Ruby's body and lets the hell hounds take Dean to hell, but is unable to kill Sam.  So at the end of Season 3, Dean's dead and lands in hell.



Season 4 starts out with the episode called "Lazarus Rising" and **spoiler coming** it's because Dean comes back from Hell very dramatically by crawling out of his grave.

This season continues with the quest to find the 'thing' responsible for raising Dean from Hell.  This season introduces my 2nd favourite character Castiel played by Misha Collins.

Early on the Winchester boys and Bobby find out that it was Castiel, with the aid of fellow angels, who are responsible for Dean's rescue from Hell.  Another new character introduced into this season is Pamela, the psychic, who helps Dean in his quest for answers.

Unfortunately, Pamela loses her vision in her quest for answers, when she gazes upon Castiel's true form.  Once the boys are introduced to the warriors of God, they have to come to terms with the reality of Angels.

Along the way, Dean finds out that Ruby is still around and is very angry to learn that while he was in Hell, Sam has been learning to master his powers.

It is very dramatic when Dean tries to help Sam by locking him into the secure room in Bobby's basement to help Sam "detox".

Eventually unbeknownst to Dean and Bobby, Castiel frees Sam, who immediately contacts Ruby.  Dean finds Sam with Ruby and they argue about the way Sam's been going about getting Lilith back for sending Dean to Hell.  The boys are also under the impression, which was provided to them by none other than Ruby herself, that Sam can avert the Apocalypse by murdering Lilith.

In this season, Dean & Sam discover that there is a series of books, written by Carver Edlund, which goes into great detail about their life.  With Castiel's help the boys discover that Carver, which is only his pen-name, is actually a profit of the Lord, and is in fact writing the chronicles of the Winchester boys.

The boys also meet Anna, who doesn't know she is an Angel, until Pamela puts her under hypnosis, to find out why Anna can hear the Angels.  Once Anna knows she is an Angel, both the Demons and the Angels are on the hunt to grab themselves a piece of 'Angel pie'.

Unfortunately, in the end Anna turns against the Winchester boys and dies in 1978 while trying to kill Dean & Sam's parents.

The showdown comes in Ilchester, when Sam is all 'juiced up' on Demon blood and is strong enough to finally take Lilith down.  Dean tries to intervene, but Ruby blocks his attempts.

Once Sam is finished with Lilith, Ruby finally confesses to tricking him into actually starting the Apocalypse.  Sam is devastated and helps Dean kill Ruby, but they are too late and Lucifer is finally released from his cage.

Supernatural Season 3

This season starts with the Winchester brothers fighting the 7 deadly sins, while trying to find a way to break Dean's deal with the cross roads demon.  The 7 deadly sins were released at the end of Season 2, when Jake opened the doorway to hell for the yellow-eyed demon.

Dean & Sam's quest takes them all over the continental US fighting evil where ever they go.  Some of the evil encountered are Vampires, Ghouls, demons, spirits and the worst one of them all - a money hungry thief for hire, Bella.

I personally really don't like this character and I don't really understand the point of introducing her to the story as she really doesn't give any depth to it.  The only point it re-enforces is the fact that the Winchester boys are very trusting, generous and kind-hearted, because she continually takes advantage them and tricks them.

What makes this character even worse is that later in Season 3 you find out that she already has a fortune at her disposal, yet she still lies and connives her way to make more money.

 I admire Dean & Sam for their strong will and power to restrain themselves from killing her.

I still find it interesting that in Season 3, after all the deceit, lying and trouble these 2 boys have encountered they can still be so trusting and gullible.

My favourite episode in Season 3 is the one featuring the Ghostfacers.

The final episode is very tragic, but I'm not going to spoil it...please just watch the Season, if you haven't already.

I'm on to Season 4...

Supernatural - Season 2

This season started off with a bang!  In the form of John Winchester's death.  While Sam & Dean try and come to terms with their father's death they continue to fight evil and along the way discover that Sam is not the only child to have been effected by the yellow eyed demon.

As Sam & Dean travel around the great American landscape they encounter numerous other 'gifted' demon effected people - some who are dangerous and some who are harmless.

Season 2 also introduces a few new long term characters, such as Jo, Ellen and Bobby.

The climax on disc 6 is reached when Sam is whisked off to a deserted frontier village along with some of the other gifted people he has met along the way and some he hasn't.  This showdown is due to the yellow-eyed demon's progress towards opening the gates of hell.  This is the yellow-eyed demon's final test to see who is the strongest out of all the gifted people - the last one standing is the winner and is coerced into doing the demon's bidding.

The 2-part final episode finishes with a bang!  Just the way the season started.  I won't spoil it for those of you who are still to watch this series, but all I can say is that there is death, re-union, sadness and triumph.

If you haven't seen it, I encourage you to watch...it's not that scary, but very exciting and thrilling.  Not to mention the hunky actors - who are totally droolworthy!

Supernatural

On the 27th of November I wrote about Supernatural Season 1 and how I've started re-watching this series from Season 1.

I'm probably about halfway through and a few questions spring to mind.  In case you don't remember this season, in it Sam seems to develop powers eg the ability to tell the future/dream about it and the ability to move objects with his mind; however as I'm watching along the following questions comes to mind.

1. What happens to Sam's powers?  He doesn't seem to use them once the angels come into the series.  Does that mean he's lost them when he fell into the underworld with Lucifer and Michael?  It would have been really interesting to have his powers develop further than what they did in Season 1. 

If anyone knows, please let me know.

Supernatural - Season 1

I've started re-watching this series, because I LOVE THE WINCHESTER BOYS!!!!

I find it amazing how scrawny they look in season 1 compared to season 7, but they are still cute! :-)

To be honest I put off watching this series for a long time because I thought it would be too scary, but now I love it.  I missed the episodes of season 8, so I can't wait until it's out on DVD.

So far I've purchase all 7 seasons and I don't regret it.

Just in case you're not familiar with the story: the series is about 2 brothers, Dean and Sam Winchester, who are hunters of supernatural beings.

The pilot episode, which aired in 2005, introduced a 4 year old Dean with his 6 month old baby brother Sam.  Unfortunately, at the very beginning of the story Dean and Sam's mother is killed by Lucifer himself, while he is trying to make Sam drink his blood.  He manages to feed Sam his blood, but while he is doing that, he is interrupted by Sam's mother.  As a result she dies in a sea of flames while stuck to the ceiling by supernatural forces.

In current times, Dean Winchester is played by Jensen Ackles.  Jensen was born in 1978 and is also known for his brief roles in Smallville and Dawson's Creek.  In 2009 Jensen starred in 'My Bloody Valentine'.  Jensen's won 2 awards in his career and has been nominated for a further 7 awards.







Sam Winchester is played by Jared Padalecki.  Jared started acting at the age of 12 and since beginning his career at this tender age he has been nominated for 7 awards.  Jared started out on the Gilmore Girls and has since starred in movies such as Friday the 13th and House of Wax.







Shoot me now!  I can't believe I forgot to mention the other most important member of the cast - Jeffrey Dean Morgan.  Ok I know I'm showing my age, but isn't he just a honey!

Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays Dean and Sam's father, John Winchester.  Jeffrey was born in 1966 - so he is more my age!  He has a list of movies and TV shows to his name the length of my arm.  Some which may be more recognisable include:

• Watchmen - 2009
• Losers - 2010
• P.S. I Love You - 2007
• Grey's Anatomy as Denny Duquette - 2009

The story in Season 1 continues as Dean turns up at Sam's college dormitory announcing that their father has gone missing while on a 'hunt'.  Dean convinces Sam to join him on the hunt for their missing dad.  Needless to say the father is still missing by the end of Season 1, but other tragic events have forced Sam back into the life of a hunter and both Dean and Sam now continue hunting monsters and demons while looking for their dad.  Throughout Season 1 Dean and Sam battle a variety of different monsters, including ghosts and demons.

I enjoyed Season 1 so much that I raced out to buy the other seasons immediately.  I've now watched all the season, but re-watching and informing as I go along.

If you haven't seen this series, I highly recommend it.
